The Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils will challenge the Cromwell Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cromwell is hoping to do what Valley Regional couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Coginchaug Regional's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Coginchaug Regional really took it to Valley Regional for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-27 victory. 58 seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Coginchaug Regional relied on the efforts of Aaliyah Watson, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, and Sophie Farr, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. That's the most points Watson has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shayla Vazquez, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Coginchaug Regional smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cromwell). They breezed by Westbrook to the tune of 61-23 on Tuesday. The Panthers pushed the score to 48-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had little chance of recovering from.
Cromwell found their leader in sophomore Peyton Kelleher, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Kelleher is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Chloe Crawford was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.
Coginchaug Regional's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Cromwell, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5.
Coginchaug Regional won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, slipping by Cromwell 45-44. Does Coginchaug Regional have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cromwell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
