The Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles will challenge the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Uwharrie Charter Academy 3.5, Cornerstone Charter 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Uwharrie Charter Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Eastern Randolph get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Logun Wilkins, who gave up just three hits to keep Eastern Randolph off the board. Wilkins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jose Ramirez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Mabe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Ramirez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Uwharrie Charter Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They skirted past the Villains 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted against the Villains since April 18, 2023.
The team relied heavily on Brayden Barbee, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Tyler Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Uwharrie Charter Academy now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Cornerstone Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Uwharrie Charter Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cornerstone Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Uwharrie Charter Academy beat Cornerstone Charter 7-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
