After a string of seven wins, the Southside Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 32-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southside has scored all season.
It was another big night for Bryanna Belton, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds for Clinton. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mylayja Thompson, who scored six points.
Southside's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. As for Clinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Southside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Greenville is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Clinton will be home for the holidays to greet Newberry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newberry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Clinton is ranked 41st).
