The Gulf Buccaneers waltzed into their match Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Anclote 67-28 on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gulf also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Gulf's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaydn Wood, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Carlos Domenech , who scored 16 points.
Anclote lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peyton Vega, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Brown, who scored six points.
Gulf's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-12. As for Anclote, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8.
Gulf will take on IMG Academy Silver at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Anclote, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Dunedin is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
