Southland College Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Chicago Christian Knights at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th.
Last Wednesday, Southland College Prep suffered a rough 45-22 loss at the hands of IC Catholic Prep. While losing is never fun, Southland College Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while IC Catholic Prep is ranked 109th).
Meanwhile, Chicago Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They breezed by Kennedy at home to the tune of 55-18.
Chicago Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Courtney Stoub, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, and Tegan Colyer, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Scarlett Tully was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Southland College Prep's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.0 points per game. As for Chicago Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-18.
Southland College Prep beat Chicago Christian 41-31 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Southland College Prep repeat their success, or does Chicago Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
