Mercer County will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Riverdale extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Rams never let Hall get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Brie DeBlaey made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. DeBlaey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Riverdale got a massive performance out of Breckin DeLaRosa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI DeLaRosa has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Dalaska, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hall only posted an OBP of .150.
Meanwhile, Mercer County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 5-1 to Riverdale. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Golden Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Riverdale pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mercer County, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Riverdale hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mercer County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Riverdale was able to grind out a solid win over Mercer County in their previous matchup on Monday, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
