Rich Township extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-8. They lost 24-9 to the Bloom Blazing Trojan. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazing Trojan this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 two weeks ago.
Kasidy Whitaker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lyric Wise, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Bloom, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.4 runs over those games.
On Bloom's side, Allison Ortiz-Torres was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Ortiz-Torres a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
In other pitching news, Bloom gave Jordynn Witzel the start and clearly made the right call: she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Witzel posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six matchups.
Back at the plate, Bloom got a massive performance out of Sandy Munoz, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Munoz a new career-high. Aryana Knaack was another key player, going 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Rich Township has already played their next game, a 10-4 defeat against Thornwood on the 29th. As for Bloom, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-8 loss against Kankakee on the 29th.
