The Geneva Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Crooms Academy 96-94. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Crooms Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyrell Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Jayden Aristile was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Crooms Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Geneva's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-9. As for Crooms Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Geneva will square off against The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crooms Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on First Baptist Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (First Baptist Christian Academy is ranked 664th, while Crooms Academy is ranked 661st).
