The Suncoast Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Spanish River Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Suncoast is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Suncoast suffered a rough 34-10 loss at the hands of South Fork.
Meanwhile, Spanish River pushed their score all the way to 34 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Spanish River and Santaluces wasn't particularly close, with Spanish River falling 52-34. With that loss, Spanish River now have a three game overall losing streak to go with their drought on the road.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aj Truiolo, who threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt. Blake Wallace was another key contributor, picking up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The losses dropped Suncoast to 1-8 and Spanish River to 6-3.
Suncoast was able to grind out a solid win over Spanish River in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Suncoast since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
