Fairview and Harpeth are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will host the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Harpeth took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairview, who comes in off a win.
If Fairview beats Harpeth with nine runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on Sycamore with a sharp 9-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ashlyn Corbin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Allie Penning, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameryn Dunn, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Harpeth's offense. They lost 10-0 to Houston County on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Fighting Irish: they've now lost three in a row.
Harpeth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyndall Threet, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
The win made it two in a row for Fairview and bumps their season record up to 4-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Harpeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
Harpeth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. It's a different story for Harpeth, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Fairview's hitters?
Fairview couldn't quite get it done against Harpeth when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Will the Yellowjackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
