The Garrison Bulldogs will face off against the Leon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Garrison is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leon in Texas (Garrison is ranked 260th, while Leon is ranked 836th).
Garrison unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 35-26 to Timpson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Garrison in their matchups with Timpson: they've now lost six in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Brayden Davidson, who threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Javien Black, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Leon was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Normangee 40-7 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Leon.
Leon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Bumpurs, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Cooper Stevens also helped out with an impressive 190 receiving yards.
Timpson's win bumped their season record to 10-0 while Garrison's loss dropped theirs to 9-1.
