Basketball Recap: Barger Shook Key Part of a Team Effort in Cavaliers Win

There's no place like home for East Burke, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past the Bunker Hill Bears with a 76-70 victory on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-51 back in January.

East Burke's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barger Shook, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. That's the most points Shook has posted since back in November of 2024. Owen Hartmann was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 19 points.

With the victory, East Burke broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-12. As for Bunker Hill, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

East Burke and Bunker Hill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. East Burke will face off against Lincolnton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 253 places (372 vs. 119). Meanwhile, Bunker Hill (ranked 561st) will meet Maiden (ranked 94th) at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
