Baseball Recap: Carmichaels Takes a Loss

Carmichaels was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the McGuffey Highlanders. The Mighty Mikes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Highlanders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Brayden Andrews made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Carmichaels' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

Carmichaels' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for McGuffey, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Carmichaels will square off against Greensburg Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McGuffey, they will face off against Waynesburg Central at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
