After a string of seven wins, the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 82-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jurisah Bailey and Annalise De beer certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Bailey scored 31 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while De beer dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. Bailey is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joy Sullivan, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Seven Rivers Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Forest was led to victory by Taleah Jones and Ja'Niyah McCoy. Jones scored 21 points along with five steals, while McCoy scored 25 points along with three steals. McCoy has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Olivia Johns was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Seven Rivers Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Forest, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Seven Rivers Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Tampa Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. North Tampa Christian Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins, Seven Rivers Christian a 15-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
