The Von Steuben Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Senn Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Von Steuben has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Senn will come in with four straight wins.
Things were looking good for Von Steuben after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 16-5 to Jones.
Skye Rojek was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Claire Hull was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Senn earned a 13-9 victory over Rickover Naval on Thursday.
Audrey Lebovitz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pippa Gerharz, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ericka Ako, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Senn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Senn's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Von Steuben, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Both Von Steuben and Senn just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Senn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Von Steuben suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Senn in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
