The Northern Valley Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wheatland-Grinnell. Northern Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wheatland-Grinnell apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Northern Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Austyn Cox. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Cox has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Baird, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wheatland-Grinnell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aliviah Ball, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Beckman, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Northern Valley bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wheatland-Grinnell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Weskan the next time they take the court. Wheatland-Grinnell will host Weskan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Northern Valley will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
