In other batting news, Patrick Smith was a standout: he fired off two home runs, four stolen bases, and four runs while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Derek Victorino Jr was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs.
Laguna Acoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Navajo Pine only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Rehoboth Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Hozho Academy on Friday and fell 4-3. The Lynx have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jonathan Zylstra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Kodah Chapman and Jude Christensen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chapman went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Christensen went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Laguna Acoma's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Rehoboth Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Laguna Acoma has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Rehoboth Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
