Troy Christian has not had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Troy Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kathleen Johnson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Johnson posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Riley Orange, who scored eight points.
Troy Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Miami East had a senior duo take command as Logan Phillips scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and Maryn Gross scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. It was the first time this season that Phillips pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Francis, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Troy Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Miami East, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy Christian will challenge the Panthers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Twin Valley South comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Miami East, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Liberty-Salem is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Vikings a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
