West Rutland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against Long Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rutland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, West Rutland gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They blew past Sharon Academy, posting a 65-13 win at home. Given West Rutland's advantage in MaxPreps' Vermont basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Sharon Academy is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Long Trail pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-56 to Twin Valley. It was the first time this season that Long Trail let down their fans at home.
West Rutland's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Long Trail, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
West Rutland might still be hurting after the 76-52 defeat they got from Long Trail in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can West Rutland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
