Shenandoah is 9-1 against Blue River Valley since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Raiders will face off against the Vikings at 10:00 a.m. Shenandoah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Shenandoah needed a bit of extra time to put away Triton Central. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Syrus Lee looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Jarrett Helman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Arrin Murray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Shenandoah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triton Central only posted a batting average of .172.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 25 runs the game before, Blue River Valley was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Winchester Community by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 30th.
Shenandoah is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Blue River Valley, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shenandoah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Blue River Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shenandoah beat Blue River Valley 14-9 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
