This season hasn't been kind to the South Sioux City Cardinals, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a 70-56 bruising from Parkview Christian on Thursday. While losing is never fun, South Sioux City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Parkview Christian is ranked 120th).
Leading Parkview Christian to victory were Tairren Scott and Terance Pittman. Scott scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Pittman scored 33 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The match was Pittman's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Bayliss, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
South Sioux City's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Parkview Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
South Sioux City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bishop Heelan Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Bishop Heelan Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully South Sioux City likes a good challenge. Parkview Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Johnson-Brock at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Johnson-Brock will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
