Wallington is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Secaucus a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Wallington Panthers will take on the Secaucus Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wallington comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Wallington fell victim to Garfield's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 38-0 loss at the hands of the Boilermakers.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Secaucus over Saddle Brook in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Secaucus was the clear victor by a 35-12 margin over Saddle Brook. 35 seems to be a good number for Secaucus as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Secaucus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Vega, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Vega was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Santos, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Secaucus' victory bumped their season record to 2-5 while Wallington's defeat dropped theirs to 0-7.
Wallington took their win against Secaucus in their previous meeting back in October of 2021 by a conclusive 27-7. Does Wallington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Secaucus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
