If the South-Doyle Cherokees were feeling good off their 80-19 takedown of the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. South-Doyle took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Knoxville Central. South-Doyle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Knoxville Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, South-Doyle saw an underclassman step up: Payton Rollins scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The matchup was Rollins' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
South-Doyle's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-10. As for Knoxville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Campbell County the next time they take the court. South-Doyle will head out to face Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Knoxville Central will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
