On Saturday, the Riverton Wolverines faced the Cody Broncs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton walked away with a 58-48 win over Cody. For Riverton, this counts as revenge for the 49-44 loss Cody walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Riverton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Paxton out in front who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 0 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Paxton has scored at least a third of Riverton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrick DeVries, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
The win got Riverton back to even at 6-6. As for Cody, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverton will square off against Rock Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rock Springs is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Cody, they will head out on the road to face off against Kelly Walsh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Kelly Walsh is ranked 23rd, while Cody is ranked 20th).
