Bishop O'Dowd is 9-1 against San Leandro since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Dragons will square off against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Bishop O'Dowd got the win against Mt. Eden by a conclusive 20-9. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won four in a row.

Emma Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bishop O'Dowd got a massive performance out of Amiri Green, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Green a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tulip Barnes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.
Bishop O'Dowd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, San Leandro came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Grizzlies 13-1.
Like Bishop O'Dowd, San Leandro also got a great game from a two-way player: Giavanna De La Luz. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. De La Luz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malia Bromstead, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Isabella Orozco was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
San Leandro's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their record is now 13-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop O'Dowd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like San Leandro struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop O'Dowd couldn't quite finish off San Leandro in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
