Basketball Recap: Lone Star Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lone Star entered their tilt with Front Range Baptist on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Front Range Baptist Falcons 51-28. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Jade Kuntz was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Cochran, who posted six points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abbie VanDenBerghe, who earned ten points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave VanDenBerghe a new career-high in blocks (two). Emma Gerrard was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Lone Star's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Front Range Baptist, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Lone Star wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-37 defeat against Fleming on the 15th. As for Front Range Baptist, they have also already played their next game, a 26-22 victory against Peetz on the 14th.
