Last Thursday, South Barber got themselves on the board against Stafford, but Stafford never followed suit. They breezed by the Trojans at home to the tune of 48-0. The result was nothing new for South Barber, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Barber to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briggs Jewell, who threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Lukas Dunham was another key contributor, gaining 77 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hodgeman County faced Minneola in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hodgeman County was dealt a 74-40 defeat at the hands of Minneola on Friday.
Despite the loss, Hodgeman County got a solid performance out of Owen Reece, who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazen Rydquist, who gained 92 total yards and two touchdowns.
South Barber's victory lifted them to 6-1 while Hodgeman County's loss dropped them down to 5-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. South Barber commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Hodgeman County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.7 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
