Hutchison is 2-8 against Monroe Catholic since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hutchison Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Monroe Catholic Rams at 12:00 p.m. Hutchison comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Hutchison was handed a 36-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Ben Eielson two weeks ago. Hutchison narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ben Eielson 22-20. That looming 22-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hutchison yet this season.
Meanwhile, Monroe Catholic came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Nikiski 58-31 on the road. Monroe Catholic has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Hutchison's record is now 1-7. As for Monroe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Hutchison might still be hurting after the 43-19 loss they got from Monroe Catholic in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Hutchison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
