The Castle View Sabercats will square off against the Grandview Wolves at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Castle View comes in on seven and Grandview on eight.
Castle View gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Ralston Valley.
Gabriel Grandy and Cole Cates dominated on the mound. Grandy didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched, while Cates pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grandy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alexander Harris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Tyler Feldhake was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, while Grandview put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Vista PEAK Prep. The Wolves blew past the Bison 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Justin Dean looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, AJ Maroni was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kayden Bohmeyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Grandview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Castle View's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Grandview, their record is now 8-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Castle View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castle View beat Grandview 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabercats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
