On Friday, Durango lost to Del Sol at home by a decisive 53-37 margin.
Durango's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amia McKinney, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals. McKinney has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizebeth Mahavong, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Del Sol's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ky'ana Allen, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Allen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ricana Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Durango's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-12. As for Del Sol, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Durango won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lancaster at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Lancaster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 442nd in California, while Durango is ranked 62nd in Nevada). As for Del Sol, they will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
