Baseball Recap: Avon Lake Wins Going Away Against Elyria

While Avon Lake put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Elyria. The Shoremen were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pioneers. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Shoremen yet this season.

Avon Lake got a great performance from Bailey Thibeault as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Alex Hicov and Adam McFadden did most of the damage at the plate: Hicov went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while McFadden went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those hits were McFadden's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Bobrowski, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Avon Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Avon Lake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Elyria, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Avon Lake will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
