The Summertown Eagles stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 87-55 win over Lewis County at home. Given Summertown's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Panthers are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summertown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ty Bryant, who scored 18 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Bryant scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Burleson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Summertown's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Lewis County, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summertown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. As for Lewis County, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Loretto knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Panthers like a good challenge.
