The Oxford Chargers will take on the South Panola Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Oxford 3, South Panola 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Oxford is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Southaven with a sharp 18-1 victory on Friday. Oxford hasn't had any issues with Southaven recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ford Wade and Hayes Huggins made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Wade tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Huggins pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Wade went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Huggins went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Huggins a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, James Blackwood and Brady Maloney did most of the damage at the plate: Blackwood scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Maloney scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Blackwood posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hogan Overby, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Oxford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, South Panola has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Water Valley. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Holden Daleke and Jarett Toliver stepped up to the plate in a big way. Daleke scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Toliver scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
South Panola's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Oxford, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Oxford came out on top in a nail-biter against South Panola in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Does Oxford have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Panola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
