The Roosevelt Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Truman Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Sunday just wasn't the day for Roosevelt's offense. They suffered a rough 24-0 loss at the hands of Boys & Girls.
Meanwhile, Truman can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They really took it to John Adams for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-6 victory at home. Truman pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit John Adams had little chance of recovering from.
Daveigh Saunders was his usual excellent self, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Saunders was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 65 yards.
Roosevelt has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 0-9 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.2 points per game. As for Truman, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid win over Truman when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 44-36. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Truman's Kymani Edwards, who rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Roosevelt to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
