Westview will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Gretna Dragons at 3:00 p.m. Gretna took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Westview, who comes in off a win.
Westview posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 last Thursday. They claimed a resounding 71-42 victory over Omaha South on the road. Given Westview's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Omaha South is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for John Sims, who scored 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tayvin Murphy was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Gretna has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Creighton Prep on Thursday.
Westview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Gretna, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.
Westview took a serious blow against Gretna in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 74-43. Thankfully for Westview, Jeff Rozelle (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
