SHERWOOD, Ore. -
Silverton (Ore.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 6 in Oregon, but was stunned by
Sherwood (Ore.), 46-19. Sherwood was ranked at No. 8 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Oregon coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Cristian Morris in the first quarter, the Bowmen led 24-12 at the half.
Sherwood expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bowmen scored two times in the third, including once on a
Joseph Balfour touchdown pass to
Keegan Lawrence.
Sherwood secured its victory by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 27.
The Foxes'
Preston Kirk played well. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.
The Bowmen's standout player in the win was Morris. The halfback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 26 touchdowns on the season.
Silverton came in surrendering 6.7 points per game this season. The Foxes struggled against Sherwood, which came in averaging 54.3 points per game.
The loss comes after Silverton defeated West Albany 35-6 last week.
