The Bedford Bisons will head out on the road to square off against the Everett Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Bedford made easy work of Greater Johnstown and carried off a 14-4 victory.
Gaston Watkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Owen Tedrow was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Taylor, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bedford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Everett waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Red Raiders.
Everett's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chase Sherwood, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Everett's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bedford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Bedford's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Bisons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Everett, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bedford continue to outrun the ball?
Bedford beat Everett 5-2 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bisons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
