The San Tan Foothills Sabercats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 53-40 to Baboquivari. San Tan Foothills found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 21 to 14 on offense.
Despite the loss, San Tan Foothills saw an underclassman step up: Alianna Taylor scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Aj Williams, who scored ten points.
Kara Baptisto continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Baboquivari, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Baptisto has scored at least a third of Baboquivari's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Antone, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
San Tan Foothills has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Baboquivari, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Tan Foothills will take on Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 last Tuesday. As for Baboquivari, they will be playing at home against Patagonia at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Patagonia is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
