The Aptos Mariners are taking a road trip to challenge the Scotts Valley Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Aptos will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Aptos came out on top against Santa Cruz on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Mariners never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

04/17/25 vs San Lorenzo Valley | 1 |

Emma Burgueno was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cara Allshouse, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Aptos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Cruz only posted an OBP of .238.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cougars. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.
Sofie Seese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Aptos' record is now 12-5. As for Scotts Valley, their record now sits at 13-5-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Aptos has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Scotts Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aptos beat Scotts Valley 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mariners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
