Softball Recap: Princeton Starts Season with Victory Against Southern Wayne

Princeton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Southern Wayne Saints with a sharp 20-2 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won nine in a row.

Chloe Herring made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herring was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Caroline Waller was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Mary Rachel Uzzell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Princeton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .879. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wayne only posted an OBP of .357.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. As for Southern Wayne, they will square off against Spring Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
