Baseball Recap: Rogers Takes a Loss

Rogers had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Clements Colts by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Colts this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-5 loss on Thursday.

Tanner Hayes and Colton Rhodes stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hayes got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Rhodes got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Rogers is 2-1 when Hayes posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Green, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.

As for Clements, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Clements' side, Grayson Borden was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jace Girodo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Rogers will square off against Wilson at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clements, they will face off against Colbert County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
