Gabriella Warner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Warner was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Reese Ferderbar made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maisie Stempfer, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Springdale's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Shady Side Academy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.
