The Durango Demons are taking a road trip to take on the Falcon Falcons at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Durango is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Durango is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-8 win over Lewis-Palmer. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Demons.
Durango got a massive performance out of Austin Romero, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Dawson McInnes was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.
Meanwhile, Falcon waltzed into their game on Saturday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Mavericks.
Parker Cordova tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Falcon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Ada, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
Durango's record now sits at 15-8. As for Falcon, their record is now 19-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Durango has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Durango beat Falcon 8-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
