The San Lorenzo Valley Cougars lost against the Santa Cruz Cardinals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. San Lorenzo Valley had to suffer through a rough 68-38 loss at the hands of Santa Cruz. While losing is never fun, San Lorenzo Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 916th, while Santa Cruz is ranked 128th).
Leading Santa Cruz to victory were Ben Dotten and Kirby Seals. Dotten dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Seals scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Demeke Smith, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
San Lorenzo Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Santa Cruz, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
San Lorenzo Valley will head out on the road to face off against Scotts Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Cruz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
