Lakeview is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Saegertown is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sailors will welcome the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lakeview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Cambridge Springs on Monday as they made off with a 23-1 win. With that victory, the Sailors brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Lucas Fagley made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Bell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tanner Vincent, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge Springs only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Saegertown made easy work of Cambridge Springs on Tuesday and carried off a 17-1 win. The Panthers have beaten the Devils the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Devils has come to flipping the script.
Like Lakeview, Saegertown also got a great game from a two-way player: Demarcus Manning. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Manning was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, William Shaffer was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Gabe Jordan was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Lakeview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Saegertown, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Saegertown struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lakeview came up short against Saegertown when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-0. Will the Sailors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
