Harleton is 7-2 against Ore City since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Rebels at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Harleton needed a bit of extra time to put away Overton. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 13-12. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.
Annabelle Green and Aleigha Hamm did most of the damage at the plate: Green got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Hamm went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Hamm a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Favela, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ore City won against Carlisle on Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Rebels didn't even let the Indians on the board, marking the Rebels' second-straight 18-0 shutout. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Madalyn Chambers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ore City got a massive performance out of Mazye Hawkins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Keylee Richardson was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and four stolen bases.
Ore City's victory bumped their record up to 12-14-1. As for Harleton, their win bumped their record up to 7-18-1.
Harleton beat Ore City 7-3 in their previous matchup back in February. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
