If the John F. Kennedy Fighting Eagles were feeling good off their 66-43 takedown of John Hay last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. John F. Kennedy's tough 70-50 defeat to East on Sunday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to John F. Kennedy of the 88-76 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Damairus Logan and Damarion Logan certainly did their best on Sunday to avoid the loss. Logan scored 12 points, while Logan scored 12 points. Jermaine Burson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Isaiah Mccray was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points for East. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mccray has scored at least a third of East's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Pullen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
John F. Kennedy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for East, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
John F. Kennedy will be playing at home against Rhodes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rhodes knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully John F. Kennedy likes a good challenge. East is on the road again on Tuesday and plays West Branch at 6:45 p.m. on February 6th. West Branch is coming into the contest with four straight victories at home, so East is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
