Lyon County and the Wildcats are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Lyon County Lyons will head out on the road to square off against the Trigg County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-25, which was the final score in Lyon County's tilt against the Colonels on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lyon County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Colonels are ranked 28th).
Meanwhile, Trigg County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 65-46 to Hopkins County Central. Trigg County was down 53-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Lyon County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Trigg County, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Lyon County against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 73-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lyon County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
