Faith Baptist Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 8-Man Freelance (8 Man).
Calvary Chapel was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating St. Michael's Prep 69-24. The Grizzlies came in at 14 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Calvary Chapel's dynamic duo of Nathan Jewell and B.J. Bell proved tough for the Pioneers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jewell threw for 218 yards and five touchdowns and Bell had 180 yards receiving. Zechariah Laidlaw helped Calvary Chapel's passing attack out by catching six balls for 38 yards.
Nate Debruno was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 219 yards on 35 carries as Orcutt Academy bested St. Michael's Prep. Jordan Sutton also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
Elias Ortiz made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Grizzlies defeated Aaron Meschuk's team. The 5-foot-9 senior racked up one sack.
Calvary Chapel's Jewell and Bell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jewell has thrown for 1185 yards this season, while Bell, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 474 yards. The Spartans' Robert Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 363.
