Georgetown is 1-8 against Blanchester since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The G-Men will take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m.
Georgetown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Felicity-Franklin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The G-Men fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The G-Men just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Bradley Ison was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Ison was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan Preston made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blanchester duked it out with Bethel-Tate on Wednesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Like Georgetown, Blanchester also got a great game from a two-way player: Sammy Roush. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Roush also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blanchester is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Roush was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Dane Skates was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cooper Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Blanchester's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Georgetown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Georgetown suffered a grim 25-0 defeat to Blanchester when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the G-Men avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
